Pool Deck Lifting and Leveling in Rockwall, TX
Rockwall Pool Resurfacing handles pool deck lifting and leveling in Rockwall, Texas: raising sunken, tipped or uneven concrete slabs around the pool back toward level by injecting polyurethane foam, or by pumping a cement-based material through holes drilled in the slab, instead of breaking the deck out. Prime Resins, a foam maker, says its foams need only dime-sized holes and stabilize a slab without digging.
Typical Dallas–Fort Worth figures for 2026 put mudjacking a pool deck of 150 to 500 square feet at $450 to $1,100. Estimates are free, and we'll look at which slabs have dropped, by how much, and what lies around and under them before anything is booked.

Why pool deck slabs sink, tip and heave
A foam maker's case study of a pool deck at a senior living community shows the usual causes side by side: tree roots had heaved some walkway slabs, poor drainage had washed soil out from under others, and some panels had dropped by 4.5 inches.
Rockwall's clay in wet years and dry
At Rockwall's center point and at Gloria Williams Pool, the NRCS soil map shows Heiden clay: about 50 percent clay down to about 58 inches, with a shrink-swell measure (linear extensibility) of 12.2 percent, rated "Very limited" for houses without basements because it shrinks and swells. NOAA's storm record shows severe to extreme drought across Rockwall County from January to April 2022 and again from July to September 2022, reaching severe to exceptional drought that August, with severe drought again in late summer 2023 and in October and November 2024.
North-northeast of Rockwall, the NRCS rates all of Nevada's mapped land in soils it calls "Very limited" for slab houses because of shrink-swell, and Rockwall Pool Resurfacing also handles pool deck lifting in Nevada.

Mudjacking, or slabjacking, is the older method: a cement-based material pumped under the slab through drilled holes. Prime Resins, a maker of lifting foams, still calls it sometimes the right choice, but says cement-based lifting can give varying results and can fracture or overlift a slab, a competitor's view rather than a neutral one. It argues for structural polyurethane foam because it adds none of the weight of cement, which it says can aggravate an existing settlement problem.
Alchatek's AP Lift 430 Fast, for one, is a closed-cell, high-density foam with an unconfined density of 3 pounds per cubic foot that works in wet ground by displacing water, and its data sheet calls it traffic ready in 15 minutes. Alchatek's guide specification lists a compressive strength of 50 psi, 90 percent of that strength in 15 minutes, and a cured material it calls chemically inert. Prime Resins claims its Precision Lift 4.0# can lift slabs to within 1/8 inch.
How a foam lift is done
Alchatek's procedure drills holes, most often 3/8 or 5/8 inch, at the lowest point of the sunken slab and 18 to 24 inches from open joints, starts injecting at that low point, and adds holes 3 to 4 feet apart on wider slabs. Dial indicators reading in increments of 0.001 inch track the slab as it rises so it isn't over-lifted, joints are saw-cut so each slab can move freely, and the holes are patched with hydraulic cement. Before injecting, a stain preventer is sprayed around the holes and joints, because foam left on the surface turns dark yellow in sunlight.

(469) 653-0486After the lift: joints, cracks and the surface
The 2021 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code, which Rockwall has adopted, asks for deck joints placed to keep visible cracking from slab stress or movement to a minimum, and for deck edges that are radiused, tapered or otherwise free of sharp corners. Once slabs have moved, check the flexible joint between the coping and the deck as well; renewing it is pool mastic replacement.
A lift leaves the top of each slab as it was, apart from the patched holes. A new coating over the leveled deck is pool deck resurfacing, and cracks in the pool shell itself, rather than the deck, are pool crack repair.

Nationally, raising a 300-square-foot section with polyurethane averages $3,000 in 2026, with most owners paying $1,500 to $4,500. Mudjacking generally costs less up front: a Dallas concrete leveling company's 2026 figures run from about $585 to over $5,400 a project for mudjacking and from around $875 to over $8,100 for foam. Rockwall Pool Resurfacing measures the slabs and prices the lift free.

(469) 653-0486Pool deck lifting questions and answers
What are some common problems with pool decks?
Cracks, and slabs that sink or heave. The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association says it isn't possible to make completely crack-free concrete, lists settlement cracks among the common kinds, and traces most cracking to design and construction, such as missing isolation and contraction joints and poorly prepared subgrade. A slab that has dropped or tipped is lifting work; a worn or cracked surface on a level slab is resurfacing work.
Can the pool be used while the deck is being lifted?
In the foam maker's senior living case study, yes: the pool stayed open the whole time while about 1,200 pounds of foam lifted slabs across a 50 by 100 foot area in five days. Each job is different, and Rockwall Pool Resurfacing will talk through access and timing at the estimate.
How level does a pool deck need to be?
Not dead flat: the 2021 code wants a pool deck sloped to drain, at least 1/8 inch per foot for textured, hand-finished concrete and no more than 1/2 inch per foot for non-wood decks, with standing water no deeper than 1/8 inch 20 minutes after the water stops. Where the pool deck meets an adjoining sidewalk, the code allows no more than 1/4 inch of difference in height, and no more than a 3/4-inch open gap, joint material included.
Does lifting a pool deck need a permit?
Ask the city first. Rockwall's Building Inspections page lists driveways, patios, patio covers and decks among the work that needs building permits, and new residential flatwork needs a City concrete permit, but neither says whether raising an existing slab counts. Nearby cities differ: Nevada, for one, requires a foundation repair permit for repairs worth $2,000 or more and doesn't say whether lifting a pool deck falls under it.
Can lifting foam get into the pool plumbing?
Alchatek's guide specification treats it as a risk: it calls for locating all utilities and drainage pipes first and inspecting the drain lines before and after the job, so foam can't enter any cracks or defects in them.
